The journey matters

Samar on how the journey matters

Summary:

Samar’s journey includes war, racism, sexism, a change of countries and culture, finding a new home, marriage, motherhood, divorce, an honour student…but all of that makes her unique!

When Samar moved to work at Microsoft one of the things she wanted to do was expand her career and development further! So, she had to present to leadership teams, but not in the normal way you might think!

They didn’t want to know about what grades she got, where she had worked, or even what she had planned to do, in that moment they wanted to know what makes her Samar! What was her journey? Where did she come from? And what made Samar, Samar?

These questions left Samar surprised and slightly uncomfortable in telling her story, but at the same time, this experience grew her understanding that the journey is just as important as the destination!
