Identity as more than a Hockey player

identity

Summary:

Growing up Brooke found that she attached her identity to labels. Head girl, hockey player the list goes on, this is obviously something she is very proud of, but more recently she has had to do the work to figure out who she is outside of those labels.

Brooke also talks to us about the work she did towards the end of her career to help set herself up for when she would leave the hockey bubble. She admits it’s hard and no amount of preparation can fully prepare you for the hole it leaves but she talks about how important it is to have many strings attached to your bow to help you navigate times of transition.

For a long time, hockey and being a hockey player was her go-to when describing herself to others, but more recently there have been a few transitions that meant she has had to really reflect on the other aspects of her life!

A business owner, a mother and a hockey player!
