Dealing with the loud minority

Tegan Yorwarth talking about negative feedback

Summary:

“It’s the loud minority”.

Tegan shares with us her experience with online discourse, and the phrase “it’s the loud minority” is something that she and her colleagues have had to think about when they see that type of online conversation.

That doesn’t mean it’s okay, though so a cheeky positive reply is often how Tegan will deal with them, and instantly their energy has changed. Other ways Tegan tries to deal with it is just trying not to engage with it, or taking some time offline!

A saying comes to mind here, “if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all”…or at least be kind in giving constructive feedback!

Something else Tegan touches on is the fact that the most important thing is that she has her circle of supportive people, and those are the opinions that matter to her, so it’s about finding the people that will support, encourage and empower you through the highs and the lows!
