The red and green mindsets

Red and green mindset

Summary:

Dom talks us through how we react to pressure and stressful situations through a red and green mindset!

Red Mindset

Red mindset links to when we get distracted by fear and our thoughts are overcome by the possibility of failure. If we stay in that phase too long, Dom talks about how we can have ideas aligned to ‘poor me’, victim stance and imposter syndrome.

So it’s just about helping people to understand what loop they are in when they are struggling with dealing with stress.

We also talk about below the line behaviours and Dom has framed these up with the acronym SOS! S stands for shifting responsibility to others, O for overcompensating and the last S is for succumbing so people might give up or not try as hard.

Green Mindset

The green mindset though is the opposite! It is more like a triangle, where people choose where they want to go and to whom they want to connect.

So at the top of the triangle is connection, the middle of the triangle is edge, and the bottom of the triangle is focus. Bringing them together means that you are connected to yourself or the team, you have a bit of edge and are able to be challenged or competitive, and focus is when you are able to stay in that moment and keep your eye on the small moments!

Above-the-line behaviours, relate to ACT= Adapting, Courage, Trust!

So when we are able to combine these behaviours together it helps to identify that we are in the green mindset.
