Being inclusive to decimate racism

Com

Summary:

Husain talks to us about what he has seen and experienced over the years around shaping and creating a more inclusive future for New Zealanders, an area in which we can definitely be better.

The concept of partnership is something Husain has taken from a lot of the work he does with kaupapa Māori partners, in that it’s about being a good person and being open to acting in a way that encompasses the best outcome for all involved!

Racism has been a journey for Husain within itself, it has been something that Husain just dealt with when he came to New Zealand, he thought it was just what had to happen due to being an immigrant!

The concept of partnership and understanding is really important in creating space for people and their traditions rather than excluding them!

A line we love that Husain spoke about…”People don’t need you to be Māori, but people need you to be a good Te Tiriti partner, and in doing so create a safe and inclusive space and community!
