Meditation…where do I start?

Meditation (1)

Summary:

Navigating meditation can sometimes bring on more stress than it needs to, so Dom talks us through a few key places and techniques we can use to help us start the meditation journey!

Firstly, start small and get small wins! Meditation is unique to everyone so do not feel pressured to have to sit still for 20 minutes, do it your way! Perhaps aim for 2 minutes per day where you are solely focused on being present in the moment, then slowly work your way up to a time where you feel comfortable!

Apps are a great way to start, they are generally guided and help you through the process!

Focus on a moment in the day, if you have a drink with dinner really focus on what that taste like, savour the moment and be present within it!

If you are someone that showers in the morning, this could be a really good moment for you to check in with yourself, or just notice what’s around you! The temperature of the water and the smells are great moments to connect to, have a go at being present!

We are all ‘busy’ so meditation will look different for everyone, so get creative with what works for you! The most important part is being able to find moments within the day to be present and take a moment to just be!
