Gareth Duncan: All for a pair of shoes

Gareth Duncan:

Today, we kōrero with Gareth Duncan—a man with many stories to share!

With nearly 40 years in education, Gareth has dedicated his career to inspiring tamariki and fostering a love for learning. Beyond the classroom, he has played a significant role in rugby across Waikato and Aotearoa, managing teams such as the New Zealand Secondary Schools, Black Ferns, and Chiefs Manawa.

In this kōrero, we explore his wealth of knowledge in education and the impact we have on children—both as parents and teachers. Having been part of many high-performing environments, Gareth shares insights on relational trust, team culture, and leading with a people-first, human-centric approach.

A power message from this kōrero that is woven throughout is the importance of knowing you can learn, unlearn, and re-learn no matter where you are on your journey!
