Keeping Mental Health Steady

Summary:

One of the things James shares about his mental health journey is the importance he places on being present with his family. For him it doesn’t need to be be present doing things all the time rather being present and just being there in the same room as the people he loves. 

James also shares with us an experience over one weekend where he was feeling off kilter and explains that the decision was made to not have technology that day. Instead he and his wife spent the day outside in the gardens and their children got involved as well, this was something that James talks about as a key element to his mental wellbeing, getting outside and not retreating to the indoor space.

James also shares the communication he has with his family is open about how he is feeling, he will often share with his family “Hey, I think I’m on the slide”. When communicating this is wife and even his daughters know what this means and the
